A Permanent Resident Card makes it easier for some Permanent Residents to enter Canada. If your PR card is going to expire in less than 9 months, you may apply for renewal. If you are outside Canada and do not have a valid PR card or your card is going to expire shortly, you should apply for Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) to return to Canada.
